Is it possible to get loan on agricultural land in India?

 

No bank in India will lend you against a farm land mortgage!

But you can get crop loan or other agricultural loans from bank.  All government banks have this loan facility.

Earlier, farmers used to take loans by mortgaging their farms to moneylenders.

If for some reason, the farmer could not repay the loan with interest, the land would become the property of the moneylender and the farmer would be destitute.

To ensure that no farmer is deprived of his rightful land, the government has enacted a law that even if a farmer has taken a loan in exchange for land, the lender cannot sue him for repayment of that loan!

Because of this, as long as this law exists, no one will lend on agricultural land!

  "कहा राजा भोज और कहा गंगु तेली", ही हिंदी भाषिक म्हण, महाराष्ट्रात तशी अभावानेच बोलली जाते. मात्र उत्तर हिंदुस्तानात, विशेषतः उत्तर प्रदेश आणि मध्य प्रदेश या दोन राज्यांत मात्र या म्हणीचा उपयोग वारंवार केला जातो. या म्हणीत दोन विरुद्ध टोकांच्या व्यक्तिमत्वाची तुलना केली गेली आहे. खरं तर  राजा  भोज आणि गंगू  तेली,  यातले ठळक शब्द, जे त्याचा दर्जा अथवा व्यवसाय दर्शवितात, या दोन्ही व्यक्ती वेगवेगळ्या सामाजिक आणि आर्थिक पातळीवरील आहेत. एक, देशातील सर्वोच्च स्थानी असलेली व्यक्ती तर दुसरा, एक सर्वसामान्य नागरिक! खरं तर कोणत्याही स्तरावर या दोघांची तुलना होऊ शकत नाही! आणि म्हणूनच, जेव्हा जेव्हा अशा असमतोल परिस्थितीतील दोन व्यक्तींची तुलना केली जाते, तेव्हा तेव्हा ही म्हण वापरली जाते. नव्वदच्या दशकातील एक लोकप्रिय हिंदी चित्रपट 'दुल्हे राजा' मध्ये या संदर्भातील एक गाणेही आहे, 'छछूंदर के सिर पर ना भामे चमेली, कहा राजा भोज कहा गंगू तेली'.
